mac&cheese asked: I have serious reasons to believe the baby may not be mine. Everyone else sees it too and says I should have a paternity test. I mean everyone. Realistically there’s a 50/50 shot, but I need to know if I should go for joint custody or wash my hands of the whole mess. The more economical the solution the better as I am already a full time single father and full time student. Money is in short supply. Thanks for the advice.
I haven’t signed anything but I believe she has listed me as the father. I haven’t talked to her in several months but I know she is going to sue me for child support. If the baby is mine I will do what I have to do, but if not, I don’t want to be responsible.
I would love to get a lawyer, but as I said, money is in short supply. I will miss many meals by going to court. If I have to, I guess I have to.
As far as the comment goes about keeping it in my pants, the ho… um… female in question is my ex wife. My daughter is from a previous relationship and her mother is in parts unknown. I can really pick em, huh?

You can petition for a blood test . Take her to court if you feel like that.
paternity test
well first of all you have to get the mothers consent to let you take the baby for a paternity test then call and make an appointment with a doctor to have the test done or you could contact the jerry springer show or maury show
paternity test
first off i hope you didnt sign the birth certificate or are listed as the father? to answer you would need a court order from a judge.
paternity test
Did you sign any paperwork stating that you are the father. If so you need to file a petition stating that you believe that you are not. I don’t know what state you are in but in many states there are ways to get free paternity test. If you have have custody you can take the child without the mother consent to get the paternity test. IF you don’t have any custody then you will most likely need to get a court order. You will want to get yourself a lawyer. If you can’t afford a lawyer call your local American bar association to see about free legal service.
Were you married at the time the child was born, if so right now you are legally that child’s father. Whether you signed anything or not. If this is true you will need to get a court order to change that. Until the courts decides you are that the father you are responsible for this child.

pay a lot of money. they are very expensive. if the woman wants to collect support, let her take it to the courts. they might order tests. might want to keep it in your pants from now on. you didn’t explain the other child, but if you can’t afford to raise anymore kids, you might want to hold off. not trying to be mean, just stating the obvious.
good luck, and i hope everything works out for the best.

You will have to request a blood test. When she sues you, you will be assigned a public defender. Then request the test.
